Our organization’s sustainability and carbon output reduction policies have been developed (and continue to be developed) in conjunction with supply chain partner’s Akzo Nobel via our Dulux Trade Contract Partnership with our benefiting via Akzo Nobel’s continuous research and development towards providing solutions that are environmentally sustainable and friendly.
The design method towards sustainability and carbon output reduction has been undertaken using a ‘business self-assessment check list’ via Akzo Nobel and ‘on-site self-assessment checklists’.
Using this methodology we continue to works towards minimising; energy use, water use and transport use, managing waste and focusing on customer needs.
Policies and processes we undertake towards sustainability and carbon output reduction include;
Seeking to influence the specification and use of sustainable materials that last longer towards extending maintenance cycles and that ultimately will have less effect on the environment by engaging the clients’ and customers in a proactive manner before a project begins’.
Nominating a ‘Waste Champion’ on projects monitoring levels of waste produced against waste recycling, implementing our organization’s sustainability and carbon output reduction policy.
Decreasing the amount of waste generated by buying in bulk to reduce packaging and the number of deliveries. Establishing ‘take back schemes’.
Using local suppliers whenever possible and ensuring that suppliers have a reliable third-party environmental accreditation.
Promoting the use of reusable equipment and materials.
Striving to use water-based over solvent-based materials as water-based materials contain less solvents and embodied carbons.
Employing locally to projects and encouraging car sharing and the use of public transport.
Our organization’s sustainability and carbon output reduction policies, systems and processes are audited reviewed and certified via nationally recognized bodies (Chas, Constructionline and Exor).
Scope of Works included: Low rise flats and maisonettes (forming part of a larger housing estate development) with a large majority of the properties being occupied with a mix of leaseholders and ’tenants’.
