The company have engaged the services of Geoff Randall M.I.O.S.H. (Chief Examiner for NEBOSH) for several years in the role of consultant health and safety officer. Geoff has been instrumental in helping develop the company health and safety policy.
Geoff attends six monthly meetings chaired by the company's board of directors, administration manager(s) and planning supervisor(s) together reviewing existing and new health and safety and environmental legislation, company procedures, audits and working practices.
All projects are planned and run strictly in accordance with Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 2007 (when applicable) with a company planning supervisor(s) assigned for the duration of said project(s).
The company was one of the very first (in London and the South East) to work with the original construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 1994 on a public sector project, in conjunction with the client London Borough of Barnet (now Barnet Homes).
The company have never been issued with a prohibition or enforcement notice by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
It is company policy when ever possible to recruit and employ from the communities local to the projects to make best use of local knowledege and expertise.

CHAS - Contractors Heath & Safety Assessment Scheme The company are certified/accredited (audited annually currently valid to June 2010) with CHAS 'contractors health and safety assessment scheme' having demonstrated compliance with, and sound management of current health and safety legislation. CITB-Construction Industry Traning Board The company is registered with the CITB-Construction Industry Traning Board contributing financially on an annual basis. This certifies that that Smith & O'Sulllivan Ltd has met pre-qualification requirements appropriate to public and private sector and as agreed by the Department of Trade and Industry. Construction Skills Certification Scheme
The company adopted a policy in 2005 of working towards registering all levels of employees with the ConstructionSkills Certification Scheme (CSCS) to enable them to attain the relevant ConstructionSkills certification. Environment Agency The company has been issued wirth a certificate of registration by the Environment Agency; The Control of Pollution (amendment) Act 1989 which we maintain under regulation 3 of the Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizures of Vehicles) Regulation 1991.
