This certifies that that Smith & O'Sullivan Ltd has met pre-qualification requirements appropriate to public and private sector and as agreed by the Department of Trade and Industry.

BM Trada Q Mark Fire Doors

The company has currently been certified/accredited with the BM Trada Q Mart Fire Door Insulation.

There is a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly installed, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end users that the product they have chosen has been installed correctly and that it should perform as intended.

BM Trada Q Mark Fire Stopping

The company has currently been certified/accredited with the BM Trada Fire Stopping

Both the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) require that the person fitting fire-stopping products is competent to do so and third party certification is the accepted means of demonstrating competency.

 The BM TRADA Q-Mark fire stopping installation scheme is based on training an individual who takes responsibility for the training and work carried out by a number of operatives. The scheme is designed to ensure that fire stopping solutions are being fitted correctly, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Basildon Trade School

BTS - Basildon Trade School

The company are Basildon Trade School Partners, we are actively involved by way of contributing time, resources and financial donations to the running of the school.

The partnership provides construction taster sessions in bricklaying, carpentry, electrics and  plumbing to young people from local secondary schools who are potentially at risk of falling into the NEET group (not in employment, education or training). It aims to improve employment prospects, self confidence, develop a pool of potential local construction apprentices, generate positive publicity, and produce items benefiting Wat Tyler Park (the venue where the workshops are held) and also the wider local community.

The company are actively looking to become involved in other initiatives similar to the Basildon Trade School with partners/communities where the company are engaged in works.

Other Partners include Basildon Borough Council, Connexions, Lovell and Prospect College.

Our organization has been a member of the Dulux Trade Contract Partnership for over 20 years which we are shortly moving over to Dulux Connect Partner, "An exclusive Membership scheme of independently assessed quality assured painting contactors' demonstrating commitment to providing an outstanding professional service to all clients'."

Benefits for our clients' via Dulux Connect Partner include;

On-line technical advice and support of products, on-site support including; producing tailored project specifications', on-site project monitoring' undertaken by Dulux specifiers' producing and publishing comprehensive 'Site Visit Reports' that are made available to all stakeholder' involved in projects.

The company has been issued with a current certificate of registration by the Environment Agency; The Control of Pollution (amendment) Act 1989 which we maintain under regulation 3 of the Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizures of Vehicles) Regulation 1991.

The company has contracts with licensed waste removal companies for duty of care controlled waste transfer. All waste from our company is disposed of via this arrangement

The company currently subscribes to ROSPA The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. As a member the company identifies with ROSPA's mission, which is to enhance the quality of life by exercising a powerful influence for accident prevention.




The company initially became members of SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings because the expertise we could call upon from SPAB in relation to our portfolio of works which include (s) listed buildings ranging from public baths and swimming pools, town halls to 1960's tower blocks.

We as a company strongly support the SPAB's fundamental principle of conservative repair enshrined in the manifesto and SPAB's energetic approach to training, developing technical skills and creating positive attitude to the repair and reuse of historical buildings.

SPAB has a keen interest in environmental matters including practically applying low carbon policies to historic buildings.
